Sparky Gasket

“Sparky” Gasket

The nervous little kobold artificer who knows every gizmo, gadget, and back-alley vendor in The Drift.

Canon Facts

  • Kobold artificer operating out of The Drift
  • Runs The Rust Bucket, the grease-and-fumes workshop-bar at The Drift where the party has repeatedly gathered (it is where Longstride first approached them in Session 07)
  • Met the party in Session 05 when they first arrived at The Drift
  • Sold the party the Echolight Necklace and other gear
  • Works as a vendor/fence for unusual arcane items
  • Confirmed the Siphon Core’s true nature as a world-shattering device (S07)

Description

  • Visuals: Small even for a kobold. Covered in scorch marks and grease. Wears a battered leather apron with too many pockets. Has a tiny pair of magnifying goggles permanently pushed up on his forehead.
  • Voice/Mannerisms: Talks fast. Finishes other people’s sentences (incorrectly). Very easily startled. Constantly fidgets with a small spring.

Roleplay Traits

  • Ideal: Craftsmanship. If it can be built, it can be sold.
  • Bond: The Rust Bucket — his workshop-bar at The Drift, grown out of a modified barrel-room in Wreck Row he still calls “The Spark Catch.”
  • Flaw: Cannot pass up interesting junk. Will be distracted mid-conversation by a shiny mechanism.

Background

Both halves of his history are true and compatible. Sparky was a former Atlas Group salvage technician, and in that role he became Dr. Elias Thorne’s former partner on the Siphon project — one of the few hands that helped build the thing before it had a name. He walked away from it: left Atlas, left Thorne, left the work, and set up at The Drift fencing gear out of the Rust Bucket. He knows far more about Atlas hardware — and about the Siphon Core — than he lets on, which is why he could tell the party in Session 07 exactly what the Core was capable of.

Mechanics / Stats

  • Non-combat NPC. Can identify and repair magical/mechanical items.
  • May have access to unusual Atlas-adjacent inventory.
